You are all well aware of how much I adore anything vintage. I would estimate that probably 40% of my clothing is from charity shops, jumble sales and kilo sale events (like the brilliant Bristol Textile Recyclers), and I’m always on the lookout for affordable vintage.
A loooong time ago, a lovely lady called Sophie got in touch to introduce Bamble Vintage, a 1980s-inspired shop on Etsy, selling all manner of handpicked vintage attire. Finally, I’m able to focus an entire post on introducing you to some of the treasures in her wonderful shop!
I was chatting to Lyzi the other day about how styles change and evolve; when I was younger I would look at immaculately dressed ‘adults’ (aka, people of my age now) and assumed that one day, my style would just find me, and I would effortlessly dress myself in magnificent garbs which perfectly suited me. In essence, I would find my ‘uniform’, and it would never change.
Of course, I’ve since realised that this is absolute nonsense. My taste and style is constantly changing and evolving – I’m just as happy dressed in bright polyester jumpers as I am top-to-toe in black. I suppose the point I’m trying to get at is that I was restricting my style based on what I thought I should be wearing, instead of what I wanted to be wearing. I recently sacked off this way of thinking and its liberating power has been enormous.
Anywho, I completely digress – what I’m trying to get at is that if you want to wear a clingy, static 1980s dress then go for it, which is handy because Bamble Vintage is packed with polyester treasures. I’ve picked out a few of my favourites.
First up, this dream in yellow – 100% pure polyester so you can be sure of a classic static cling in the height of spring (oh wow, I cannot believe I just typed that). This li’l tea dress would look smashing with a pair of pumps when the weather gets warmer.
Speaking of which, how cute are these gold 1960s beauties? Pair them with this bronze metallic mac (below) and you’ll shimmer so brightly you’ll light up a cave on a dark night. This brown jumper underneath has made me realise that I never knew I needed a collared sweater until now, and I can just picture this perfect pop of pink paired with a pair of classic black jeans.
Which are your favourite vintage shops on Etsy? Let me know in the comments!
Disclamer: Sophie at Bamble got in touch and sent me a wee box of treats in exchange for this post, but all words and opinions are my own.
